Hamdan bin Mohd Azmir is the founder of DANAZMIR CONSULTANCY. He is a qualified Safety & Survival Trainer, a certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and a trained Camp Counselor. He has been involved with safety and health for more than 20 years since his days with the aviation industry.

Hamdan joined Malaysia Airlines in 1981 as a Flight Steward and rose to the rank of Chief Steward before becoming Safety Instructor with the same company. After serving for more than 15 years, Hamdan became a Freelance Safety Trainer where he was extensively involved in Safety Training and Consultancy.

In 1999 Hamdan joined Construction & Industrial Safety Training Centre (CONSIST CENTRE) as a Safety Training Consultant and Head of Offshore Safety Training Department. He later joined PELITA AKADEMI (a Ministry of Transport, Malaysia Approved Maritime Academy) in 2002 and subsequently started his own consultancy firm. Since then he has been providing safety training and consultancy services to various training centers mainly in the offshore, maritime and aviation industries. This includes Malaysia Maritime Academy or better known as Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM), a subsidiary of PETRONAS.

Some of his notable projects include setting up and outlining training programs for CONSIST CENTRE, PELITA AKADEMI and ALAM in the field of Offshore Safety Training. Amongst the training modules he helped develop for these centers were Basic Offshore Safety and Emergency Training (BOSET), Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Sea Survival Course, First Aid and Emergency Medicine related training programs.

Apart from conducting training locally, Hamdan has also conducted training in Indonesia, Singapore and Myanmar. He has also helped in carry out Safety & Health audits for Esso Production Malaysia Inc. (EPMI) and TL Offshore Sdn Bhd (TLO) in their “Bekok-C Riser Upgrade & Tabu A-B Pipeline” project and assisted in the Health Risk Assessment Workshop for Sarawak SHELL’s “Gemusut-Kakap FSO and FPSO Conceptual Design”.

He holds a Bachelor Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Workplace Trainer Certificate from the Australian National Training Authority. Other professional qualifications obtained by Hamdan include:

  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT INSTRUCTOR – National Heart Institute Malaysia (IJN)
  • FIRE TEAM MEMBER TRAINER – Jakarta Offshore Training Centre (JOTC)
  • COUNSELOR IN TRAINING – American Camping Association (ACA)
  • LIFE SAVING INSTRUCTOR – Malaysia Lifesaving Society (LSS)
  • INTERNATIONAL LIFE SAVER – International Lifesaving Society (ILS)

Currently Hamdan is an Associate Trainer / Visiting Lecturer for SIRIM’s and Universiti Malaya’s (UMCCed) joint-program in their Professional Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Management and a Lead Trainer with ALAM in their Basic Offshore Safety and Emergency Training (BOSET) courses. Hamdan is also a Guest Panel Member of Curriculum Development Division (Diploma in Tourism and Adventure) for Department of Polytechnic & Community College Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.
